I might be referred to a higher level of care soon and I dont know what to do.
I (20F) have been struggling for years over really bad depression and anxiety. I have a strong suspicion I have might have some sort of neurodivergency, but have been able to get around to getting a diagnosis. Ive been seeing my therapist for about 3 months now, and it feels like progress is an agonizing crawl. In our most recent session, something just broke in me and I went on this major mental breakdown about all sorts of things; feeling like I need to simply be content with less than I need in order to maintain a relationship with any human being, feeling that she isn't listening to the words I'm saying at all, about how I feel like my sheer existence is a burden on the people who claim to care about me and feeling about myself as a person wont change how terrible I am to everyone else.
Her response to this was saying I should be in a higher level of care. She assured me it wouldn't be straight to inpatient, which is a huge relief. I'm absolutely terrified of losing all access to the few people in my life who still bother to be around me, even if our relationships are strained. I know a lot of them also take away internet access, and the internet is one of the few coping mechanisms I have that half works nowadays. That said, I still don't know what she wants to do with me. She reassured me I still would be able to sleep at home, but the thought of being shut away from anything vaguely familiar and the loss of my autonomy just makes me wonder if I should run away from it all before it can happen. She told me I have a choice in the matter, but I dont know how much I really do.
Does anyone have anything they can say? Any advice for what worked for them, any sign I might be ok? I have no idea what to do.
