For those who found themselves turning to AI as a last resort because they've learned to distrust psychotherapists (in addition to most people) as they left you worse off.. how narcissistic were yours?

While we have banned users for overgeneralizing with "All therapists are bad," and with our having many awesome LMHPs here in the sub who join in on pushing back against unsafe looking AI use, adding nuance to discussions, and correcting misconceptions... we have also had to ban a growing list of professional and student therapists from the sub for repeatedly breaking the rules (and often refusing to acknowledge nor take responsibility for it).

So, I ask this question because as is the case with the same behaviors in people in general, I've noticed the same pattern in those we've had to ban and their effort to appear at first glance as being more than civil and decent enough... their getting really good at fooling themselves in a way they have likely been doing most of their life.

This would explain why they're so harmful to those already vulnerable and traumatized by it, because even in a different setting with different dialogue... dismissiveness, condescension, and unconsciously distorting to the point it feels like gaslighting... all of the kinds of things you hear about here, on r/therapyabuse, and r/antipsychiatry... has the same triggering wound opening lack of safety effect.

Personally, I've had 3 psychiatrists through the VA due to their moving into different positions or leaving the VA, first for dealing with grief due to losing a loved one, which then just became about ADHD diagnosis and management. I never had a bad experience myself, so in addition to those here and those I know regularly, I'm fully aware many therapists/psychiatrists are from okay to great.

I fear that until all therapists learn how to have intellectual humility across all facets of their lives and lose their dependency's on cognitive self-defense mechanisms, there are going to be harmful one's that still don't do anything that would lose them their license.
