TIFU by not following my ex boyfriends fashion advice/ taking my headphones out in the train.

I have a favorite skirt that my old flame pointed out to me was see through. He also lovingly told me I shouldn't leave the house in Birkenstocks . He had my best interest in mind, and I should have listened.

This morning as i rode the train I noticed that a bunch of people were staring at me like something was going on. I became concerned and pulled out my earphones. It was a move I would later come to regret . I than noticed two normal looking adult gentleman sitting across from me very loudly discussing someone's physical attributes. That someone was me.

"Would you say she's pretty or beautiful" asked man 1. Man 2 responds" beautiful doesn't cut it, I would say she's gorgeous."

Than a tirade ensued how my shoes which they used to wear in the eighties probably cost me a lot Of money and this means I must think I'm better than them. "Why don't you talk to us gorgeous? You think youre better than me? Look at those shoes, I owned those shoes before you were born" My face started to burn and I felt the heat radiating off of it. I don't know why I was embarrassed ,they were the ones doing something wrong.

Than the gentlemen decided to ask other passengers on the train what they thought of me. Do they like the glasses or should I get contacts? Why was I wearing glasses today? I look like the kind of girl who usually wears contacts. Most passengers ignored them and continued to examine me but some gave short answers. I wanted to die but I refused to get off the train because I did not want to give them the benefit.

Than they started tearing into my legs, and how shapely they were through the skirt and thank god I wasn't wearing pants or they wouldn't get to see them.

So next time my former amour earnestly gives me fashion advice I will try harder to listen and not care about my comfort . At this point in the ride they moved onto my hair and I had heard enough. I stuck my headphones back in and pretended to text people.

This didn't end their conversation as the train bystanders continued to look at me as if I was a foreign specimen.

TLDR: never take out your headphones on the train and listen the guy who is adamant about Birkenstocks not being the right choice.
