[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s or 2010s] Horror movie about a mom and teen daughter, ghosts I think

I thought I could easily Google this movie but nothing comes up. Maybe I'm conflating some stuff, but I don't think so.

It's a horror movie, I think about ghosts or possession or something. A teen girl (I think with long, dark hair) is disturbed and living with her mom, possibly in a new town. Her dad is deployed, and he is teaching her guitar over skype (I specifically remember he tells her she needs to build up her calluses). The mom is having a hard time because she doesn't relate to the daughter as well as her husband does. I think the girl makes friends with/starts dating another girl, and either at the beginning or end of the movie, she plays her a song on the guitar while sitting on a swing or in a park. I think it's an original song.

The parts I might be conflating with another movie:

1. There might be another mother/daughter pair, like a neighbor or something, or it might just be another woman, who goes through some or all of the haunting with them. 2. I was pretty sure this movie has a very iconic scene that's on posters and movie covers, where a bunch of dark shadowy hands press up against a wide, white living room window. I thought I could Google this but all I'm getting is Poltergeist and window films I can buy as Halloween decorations. It's also possible this is from a different movie.
