I think I made a mistake buying a renewed phone...
Back in March I purchased a "renewed" Samsung S22, as it was advertised on Amazon as in excellent condition and while I loved my S10e, the battery was getting long in the tooth.
I activated the phone and am happy with it, though the battery life could be better yet, and wanted to get it unlocked -- which is where I discovered that what the phone was advertised as might not be what it was. The phone was advertised on Amazon as a "T-Mobile" locked S22, and upon boot shows the T-Mobile carrier startup.
I called customer service to see if I could get it unlocked and they advised that it had to go through Sprint, as it was actually a Sprint phone, so they transferred me... to Assurance Wireless.
Trying to enter my phone number at Assurance just has the auto-attendant disconnect me with "Goodbye."
I contacted the chat support instead of calling, and they assured me they could help. After a while, I ended up just getting told to call Amazon and they could unlock it for me. (... what?)
My questions, if anyone has answers:
* Should I just give up on unlocking the thing? I paid for the phone retail, so expected to not have to deal with hurdles the same way you would for a financed phone. * Was the Sprint/Assurance transfer a mistake? (From my stupid customer perspective, this part is highly confusing and rather off-putting.) * Does anyone have advise as to what to do next? Is it worth trying to reach out to Amazon customer service, or is that a dead end?
