2yo waking up and staying up for minimum of 2 hours. I’m losing my mind.
Before this she was a pretty decent sleeper. She’s been in a toddler bed since 22 months or so and handled the transition beautifully. At the worst if she woke up, she was pretty easy to get back to sleep, even if sometimes that meant snuggling with us in bed.
But this has been going on for weeks now, and nothing gets her back to sleep until she’s been up for at least 2 hours. If we take her into our bed she just rolls around, talks, tries to play, or gets mad that I’m not cuddling her exactly the right way.
A few times I’ve even resorted to giving her warm milk and/or a snack but it doesn’t get her back to sleep any faster.
I’ve tried ignoring her completely but she has a history of working herself up so bad she throws up, and that’s the last thing I want to deal with at 3am, so I feel I have no choice but to go to her — and once I do, I know it’s a minimum of 2 hours before either of us goes back to sleep.
We’ve tried music, red light, no light, sleepy stories on the yoto, reading books, just sitting in her room telling her she’s okay and it’s time to sleep, cuddling in her toddler bed, cuddling on the couch, basically redoing the entire bedtime routine. Anytime I try to leave her in her bed she cries so hard she starts coughing and gagging.
Idk what’s wrong. Her daytime routine hasn’t really changed and her nap is good most days (doesn’t seem to be a correlation). Please, does anyone have any suggestions or insight?
