New to torrent : what recommandations to start and find old french movies?

Hello,

I have never used torrent before. I live in a country with strict regulation against not purchased movies.

However my grandpa 94yo is just entering retirement home and keep complaining about the movies on tv. He misses old movies with actors like Bourvil or Fernandel.

I am trying to find those movies for him but don't seem to find any trace?

Therefore I thought about torrents ?

Where to learn though ?

How to know what source to trust ?

Any idea how I could do ?
