Are pre-patch saves broken?

I had a WE campaign going and I was doing fairly well. Now when I open that save (or any other save for that matter), the game just crashes to windows screen. I can start new campaigns so the game isn't bugged, but all my saves appear to be corrupted after the most recent patch.

Is this a known bug/side effect of the new patch? Is there any way to correct this?
