Question about Total War Napoleon

Hi everyone, downloaded Napoleon and am playing for the first time in like 6 years. I have completely forgot so if anyone can help me out, if I place a unit behind another unit will they then shoot my frontline in the back? I’m using the Darth Mod if that’s is relevant. Any help is appreciated!
