Heroes

Do you guys ever just sit heroes in provinces instead of bringing them with armies? I've heard that sort of thing has been used for High Elf economy exploits in the last game and it's sort of incentivized by the rifts system in this one, but I've personally never been a huge fan. For one thing the end turn button is set to scream at you for idle heroes by default, and it is actually a useful feature if you're using your heroes as agents on the campaign map to steal tech or assassinate people, but it goes against using their passives like increasing income imo.

I feel like it wouldn't be egregious to allow the player to garrison at least one hero in provinces and tie their passive abilities like increasing income to that action. It seems like that would get rid of the ui problem with having them just lay about, and offer a nice low commitment way to bolster defenses in an area and thematically increase the importance of said hero. They could act as the leader of the garrison in battle instead of a random unit with a random name and it might possibly make hero spam less likely in player/ai armies since there would be a third option alongside using them for quests/assassinations and putting them in armies.

With CA playing around with daemonic heralds evolving/being replaced by exalted greater daemons I also think this could be part of a similar kind of mechanic in theory. It could be neat for heroes to "evolve" into lords via a dilemma at a certain point and maybe for heroes to emerge from armies on rare occasions as a sort of emerging talent thing. I'm just rambling at this point but I'm interested to hear what other people think about heroes in this sort of capacity.
