Going great so far!

I received my two Totam bundles a couple weeks ago. Set one up two weekends ago, and we've been slowly planting it with my four year old. This has been a great joy to share with him, as he is very curious about \_everything\_ involved and with the plant growth. His fine motor skills are perfectly challenged with the setup and seed-placing steps, too. The setup was uneventful, and the instructions were sufficiently clear. App is simple and usable; rather boring, but in a way that does its job well.

We're growing basil microgreens, tiny tim tomatoes, mini roma tomatoes, buttercrunch lettuce, kale, echinacea, and columbine. The kale and buttercrunch have taken off really well, but the tomatoes are looking good, too. My son is enjoying seeing the visible progress each day.

However, the microgreens just aren't doing well at all. We had them blacked out for seven days, and only the outer rim of seeds germinated. We followed the paper instructions closely. I think the seeding density on the seed packet we used (8g per 35sqin) was too dense. We'll give it a few more days, but I'm not optimistic.

Overall, I'm happy with the Totam. It looks good, and it's working as advertised. Very excited to have fresh, healthy plants throughout our winter here!

Couple specific (and relatively minor) things I'd like to see changed in future Totams.

1. The pry tool for removing the net pots' lids is very weak and bends almost to the point of breaking every use. That should be more robust. Using a screwdriver works fine, but it's going to scratch up the plastic quickly. 2. The value adjustment screws. They are VERY tight, and the slot in them isn't quite sized correctly for most coins, or isn't deep enough to give good contact for turning it. Again, using a screwdriver works, but that's wearing down the plastic edges very quickly. The values could be made less stiff, or the slots deeper and wider to accommodate a quarter. 3. The final change I'd like to see is a smoother water drawer, possible with a detent for the proper opening depth. When full or mostly full, the drawer binds easily and can cause sloshing. Some side rails/spacers/guides would help with that, and a detent or small hump would be nice to subtly stop the drawer when opening for refilling.

I'm excited to complete a grow cycle with Totam!
