what do y'all like about touhou project?

just a genuine curious question. :)

i like touhou project for a lot of reasons.

first, **the cast is hella colorful and creative**. like, most video game casts (both indie and AAA) are just bland ass cookie cutter characters, but touhou's cast is unique from that. each character has something special about themselves (which probably explains why at least one person will like even the most obscure of them). each character has sooo much personality, and a LOT to their designs.

second, **the music is great**. this one is hella obvious, so i don't have to explain why i like the music itself. i like the way the music works so well in the games tho, fr.

third, **the series is open to a LOT of interpretation**, allowing ppl to use their imaginations for it (something a lot of other franchises don't do). originally, i was curious on why ZUN made so many characters if he wasn't even going to use more than half of them again (for anything major), but then i realized that the reason for that is bcuz he wants to allow fans to use them and make stories for them as well (which fits with my first reason too). this also seems to explain the games themselves, the environments, and sooo much more.

**i also rlly like this fandom more than most others**. i mean, i've seen its bad and elitist side before, where they can get hella defensive and uptight if u criticize even the most minor of shit, but other than that, the fanbase is more fun to be around than most others. a LOT of ppl i've met in the fanbase have character to them, and i've met more nicer and fun ppl in this fanbase than most others. as a matter of fact, this is literally the only sub i unironically visit on a normal basis.

i have a LOT more reasons i like touhou, but i think i'll leave it like this for now. hbu? what do y'all like about touhou (and its fandom if you want).
