Hawaiian Tragedeigh
I had a student who's family all had common American names. The student had a super common first and last name (think Taylor Johnson).
Middle Name: Kahlā'kahakai'meha'makamae
I asked how to pronounce it, and they told me, then explained that it was "Hawaiian, and means Sunny Beach Treasure" but their mom had changed the spelling. (Ka lā- sun, kahakai- beach, mea makamae- treasure)
The family had no connections to Hawaii or other Pacific Islands. All their siblings (older and younger) had common middle names. Also, the student couldn't spell their middle name.
Note: I changed the name meaning to protect the students identity. Original name is still 3 random Hawaiian words misspelled and strung together with apostrophes.
