Transformers change of priority - Toys to media
We all know the G1 cartoon was created to sell toys.
We love it for nostalgia, but it's by no means the best animated show, even for its time.
It's why characters appear and disappear out of nowhere, with rarely any backstory.
I'd argue even up to Cybertron/Galaxy Force, the cartoon was based on the toys.
Beast Wars was new CGI tech. Those were impossible to exist.
The bayverse designs are prohibitively complicated to have as a real-world toy. The 2007 movie had the official licenses from GM, Lockheed, etc. so you could see why they picked those alt modes.
But now we're getting just random designs, some of which are toys, but it seems to be more disconnected.
Do you think this is a positive or negative move for the brand? Which has more staying power as a toy brand, or is Transformers now not really only the toys?
