Which do you prefer for main transformers weapons, integrated in their bodies or external weaponry accessories?

I love transformers but two of my favorite are prime and the skybound comics. In skybound weaponry are usually outside their bodies such as Optimus's ion blaster. But in prime the weapons shift from their hands to blasters or blades.

I like a combination of both but I honestly think I lean more to external weaponry as it can be use for more tension in the comics. But when it think of robots in disguise it makes me frustrated as their hand guns seem even weaker than the blasters they had in prime which was not to long before that one.

Personally I would like it if external weapons are more powerful but they have internal ones as back ups.
