IIL 'The Transformers: The Movie,' what else will I like?

Watching "The Movie" in theaters yesterday (my umpteenth viewing since childhood), I realized one reason I find it infinitely rewatchable is how richly detailed and intricate some of the shots and scenes are. Transforming Autobot City and seeing the inner workings of Unicron mesmerized me as a kid, and frankly still do.

It hit me yesterday that this style, from artwork to scene composition, is likely inspired by something, potentially anime or other international films. So if I like these aspects of the movie, are there any similar movies I should check out? I don't necessarily need a good story, but I don't want to miss out on being blown away by similar art. Thanks!
