Should 1-10 ratings be absolute or relative?

In other words, if I were to give myself a rating of 10, should I give myself that rating on the basis that A) I am the highest I have ever been Or B) I am as high as I believe to be humanly possible

In the former situation, it is possible for my 10 to be another’s 7. In the latter, my 10 is the same as everybody else’s 10.

I see both sides. Can we get a healthy discussion in the comments?
