How do you ash a bubbler?

I love the idea of using a bubbler but when I used to use one I always found it so hard to clear the ash since the bowl isn't removable and there's water in the pipe. Do people just replace the water every time or deal with a dirty ass bubber that'll clog after a few days of usage, or is there a better way?
