Forget red and blue buttons. Let's consider boxes full of money

You are transported into a room that's empty except for 2 boxes. One box is transparent and you can see it has $1000. The other box is opaque. You can take either only the opaque box or both the opaque and transparent boxes.

Everybody in the world has been transported into their own room with their own two boxes. If more than 50% of the people in the world take both boxes, then the opaque box will be empty. If, however, more than 50% take only the opaque box, leaving the transparent box, then the opaque boxes will contain $1,000,000 (ignoring inflation for this hypothetical).
