IDL lanes closed for new signs

So am I right they've completely closed the north side, east-bound portion of the IDL? I was going west and the view over onto that part isn't great. It looks like the old gray lattice things are going in favor of black piping which I think looks nice but can't help but think it's only cause they are way less climbable???
