Question about Photo ID verification

Just a quick question:

I'm a fully verified member and have been using Turo for years.

I've noticed that when you upload your ID pic it now asks you to wait for the host to verify your ID.

So my question is who ultimately verifies the ID when I'm booking the trip? Is it fully up to the hosts discretion or is there someone on Turos team (or AI) that verified as well?
