What can I do? This is egregious (NYC)

Sorry if this may sound stupid. I’ve been an Uber One member for over 5 years at this point and this has never happened to me. I ubered to work at around 6:15 am and expected to get there around 7. We got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the RFK bridge for over an hour; to the point that I got to work around 8:30. Thank god I have a coteacher to cover my class but somehow this major inconvenience (through no fault of my own OR my driver’s) has now made a $50 trip into a $100 trip. I want to dispute the charge and have already complained to Uber chat but they were essentially saying “yup that’s how it is!”. I also don’t want to rate the trip low because again, it’s not the fault of my driver’s. He was actually quite nice (shoutout to you Jose). Has this happened to anyone before? And if so what can I do about it? At no point during the trip did it say my fare was going to be increased and certainly not to this extent.
