First CrossCountry Turbostar experience today

Quick question: who in all creation was this seating designed for? These trains literally go across the country. The clue is in the name!!! Did they test this with people with no knees? Did they accidentally sketch up the design drawings slightly zoomed in?

I am not a tall person and I literally do not fit. This makes Ryanair look like a Bentley. Fifty quid this journey cost me. If the second train is like this I'm getting off and walking.
