Game Freezes, What to Tweak?

I'm not sure what is causing my Ultimate Skyrim 4.0.5 to freeze, but it happens about every hour. Upon freezing I can let the game run for at least 2 minutes without a single additional frame being drawn. I can alt-tab and use my mouse on the other screen, but my monitor is completely locked to the frozen screen. I can't use alt+f4 to close Skyrim, I have to end the process using Task Manager. Even while frozen, my CPU's most intensive process is Skyrim. 80% of my RAM is still allocated to Skyrim. My GPU usage is at 0%. In the midst of play, it's about 100%.

Previously I thought it was just weather-related. Whenever it rained my frame rate dropped. If I pushed my luck by continuing to play instead of waiting it out, I often encountered a game freeze. But I'm getting them regularly enough outside of rain that I've decided to post for help.

Where should I tweak first to see if I can resolve the issue?

If it helps to know more, I've experienced other glitches. When Ultimate Skyrim, Dead Means Dead I suppose, tries to respawn me after I die, I'm often stuck to the floor, and my head is graphically displaced inside my chest hit boxes. If I I go into 3rd party camera mode my point-of-view transitions back to wherever I was killed, centered on where my body was. Once, instead of being stuck to the floor, I respawned on my horse, which preceded to become lighter than air and take me up up and away.

I configured the MCM for A Matter of Time per the [step 9 of the Ultimate Skyrim install instructions](https://www.ultimateskyrim.com/final-steps#configure-mcms), but the alignment of health bars, the time of day, and the month are not elegantly arranged. I can't say there's a glitch to fix here, but I can say that the letter typefaces and HUD arrangement I've seen on Ultimate Skyrim YouTube videos look better than my install. Does 4.0.5 have different typfaces than 4.0?

This is where I'd like to hyperlink you to some images, but Imgur is adding completely white images to my gallery when I try to upload screenshots (e tu, Brute?).

Do the freezes taken together with the other bizarre occurrence suggest which part of the installation process I made a mistake? I have no additional mods.
