Samsung Neo G9 G95NC 57" 7680x2160 - Sep 2026

**Samsung Neo G9 G95NC 57" 7680x2160 (8Kx2K) superultrawide - 2026**

I thought I would update the great post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/1g6nasj/samsung_neo_g9_57_g95nc_everything_you_need_to/

With further quirks and issues:

* Firmware used: 1009.2 * Last updated DD-MM-YYYY: 2026-09-25 * Latest changes: Working with old laptops

**Physical setup**

**Measurement:**

* Width: 133cm, monitor edge to monitor edge * Height: 43cm * Depth: Approximately 35cm * Weight: 15.4KG

Box is big. You do need two people to lift it. Or you can drag it on the floor.

* I did not use the V shaped stand as it was too big. * I made a quick vesa mount adaptor and it works. More information on that later. * KEEP THE BOX. You will need it for moving. * Remove the tape AFTER putting it in place. * I did not have any tape on the display.

**Vesa Mount**

WARNING. The bottom (underneath) of the monitor has the menu buttons. You may not see them, as I did not. BE CAREFUL RESTING THE MONITOR ON THIS. I made a Vesa mount out of a rectangular piece of 23mm plywood so I can mount it on anything. The included Vesa mount is usable but has several drawbacks. Best to have a picture.

* 8 x M4 screw holes, standard monitor size. * Screw the base plate into the monitor. This will give you a secure holding area. You can then hook your finger on the plate and lift but do NOT do this until you have prepared and area to rest the monitor FIRST. You will tire out quickly lifting this unwieldy beast. * The holes on the outer VESA 100 x 100 mount are threaded. Originally I was going to use M4 Set Screws through these outer holes and then into the wood. However once I * realised there were threaded I drilled 4 x m4 holes in my plywood plate then used standard m4 Pozi/Phillips head bolts at 40mm. Threaded them through the holed and then used some m4 nuts to secure for safety. * How to do this on your own? Books. Lots of Books. It is a HEAVY monitor at 15KG and not in the depressive sense. With two people it is NOT easier. With three people it would be. Why? The other person would need to hold 15KG at exactly the right position. 3 people, one to mount, two to manoeuvre could do it. You need to position the monitor at exactly the hole position of your custom VESA mount. Just pile heavy books underneath across two points under the monitor. About 20cm each side from the middle on the monitor. Then raise and lower with more book. * Start at top left. Get one screw in and threaded. Screw nut to hold.

* Top right, same. * Remove books and thread other screws. * It is stable and strong enough.

**Cables**

* I had some screen tearing in the middle of the two 4k displays. I had a silkland cable on one input and a 4k DP to HDMI Pluggable adaptor on the other with a HDMI 4k Cable. I swapped out that for a direct 8k DP to HDMI and no more screen tearing. Now showing Monitor 1: 5.4Gbps, Lanes (current 2), Lanes (Max) 4. Monitor 2: 5.4Gbps, Lanes (current 2), Lanes (Max) 4.

* Take the included HDMI/DisplayPort cables, stick in Samsung box and never ever talk about them again. (Perhaps in whispers at a tech convention) * The included power cable again is short but is needed as the back of the monitor has a ledge which is the bottom of the monitor. This prevents the cable from slotting vertically into the female port. * The ledge is useful for holding the monitor. * Have not used the USB KVM. * When I first connected this to my 4090 with my existing cables it worked fine at 7680 x 2160 but only at 60Hz. Open GPU Z and select the advanced tab. Scroll down and go to the heading Monitor 1. You should see Link Rate, Lanes (current), Lanes, Max. This will give you your total bandwidth. So with 2 lanes @ 8.1GBps, it's 16. You want more so make sure to get a 4k/8k cable that can handle all 4 lanes.

I bought a Silkland 3 metre DP to DP cable and ran with four lanes at @ 120hz. No setting change on the monitor was necessary. The 4090 can only handle DP 1.4 BUT the hardware can run at HDMI 2.1 but is limited by Nvidia.

"The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57″ is fully capable of running 7,680 × 2,160 at 240 Hz through HDMI 2.1, including when using the PBP mode where each half runs as an independent 3840 × 2160 @ 240 Hz display Technically, HDMI 2.1 with its 48 Gbps bandwidth and support for Display Stream Compression (DSC) is sufficient to handle Dual-UHD 240 Hz without any loss in image quality. The panel, scaler, and firmware on the Samsung side fully support this configuration. The limitation comes from NVIDIA’s RTX 4000-series GPUs (including RTX 4070, 4080, 4090, etc.). Although these cards physically include HDMI 2.1 ports, NVIDIA’s current HDMI implementation and driver stack do not enable 240 Hz over HDMI at 7,680 × 2,160... The necessary DSC timing mode for Dual-UHD 240 Hz is not yet active in their firmware or driver, resulting in a cap at 120 Hz for all RTX 4000 cards when using HDMI on this monitor. Thats the shit from Nvidia. In short, the Odyssey Neo G9 57″ can achieve 240 Hz through HDMI 2.1 in both full and PBP modes. The restriction to 120 Hz exists only on NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPUs due to a software and driver-level limitation, not a hardware or cable issue... We have to create Support Ticket to Nvidia to fix that "

**Docks and Older Laptops**

* You will need a minimum of DP 1.4 to run this at full resolution. * The good news is you do not need a new laptop. At DP 1.2 I cannot run this monitor on a single connection. If I go to the menu and turn on PIP mode I can then connect the monitor to HDM Port 3 using a 4K DP to HDMI cable and HDMI Port 4. * If you get an off color image check in Nvidia control panel color settings to make sure the display is FULL and not LIMITED. This could be due to the cable quality so get the best cables.

This will give you two 4k Displays side by side. You can run them at the same frequency so it appears as a single monitor. There are issues with window management as this will appear as two 4k monitors side by side. I am trying to figure out a solution to make this appear as a single monitor to windows.

**VESA monitor arms**

As already stated this is a heavy display and I would not use any normal monitor mount, only the one designed for it. The VHD mount. You could mount it and zip tie it but I would not recommend it. Think of the cost of the monitor vs a stable monitor mount.

**Other**

* Leave the back plate off. * Take off the FILM after mounting. * I put speakers behind the monitor on the desk.

**On-screen Display**

**Setup** I turned power saving off.

**Firmware update** My monitor came with 1009.2

**Desktop use**

* When you first connect this monitor Windows may scale the text at 300% .Turn off scaling factor, log back in and set it to 150%. * Windows management: Displayfusion. * Have not tested HDR yet.

**Gaming**

I need to do more testing and will update later. It is different to triple screen as the height (24inch@1440p) makes it more immersive.

**Custom resolutions on Nvidia cards**

The Scaled Resolution Editor did not work for me or add new resolutions. I will need to test and update. Update: Cannot get CRU to add a new resolution either :-(

**Connections** DP To DP 7680x2160@120hz on Silkland 8K cable. HDMI 4k@30hz x 2 4K Ugreen Cables.
