SSD TRIM with LSI 9211-4i
Hi All,
Just setup an unRAID server and have a raid1 cache pool with two Samsung PM841 SSD's - I installed the dynamix TRIM plugin and am getting these reports every day when it runs...
```fstrim: /mnt/cache: FITRIM ioctl failed: Remote I/O error```
I did a bit of research and found some people saying I need an SSD that supports deterministic read after [1](https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/34889-dynamix-v6-plugins/?do=findComment&comment=554040) - I checked my SSDs and they both appear to have this support.
sudo hdparm -I /dev/sdi | grep -i trim * Data Set Management TRIM supported (limit 8 blocks) * Deterministic read ZEROs after TRIM
I tried manually running fstrim and got the same error. Anyone know what might be causing this? Is the deterministic read support on my SSD's different than what the HBA supports? Do I need to switch to a different HBA to get TRIM working?
*edit* - Though the specs given for the server specify a 4i it has two expander ports on it which makes me think it’s an 8i, these both have the SAS2008 chip though, so I would think TRIM support would be the same for them but i’m not sure.
