Turned in [Spoilers] to the Protectorate and got them killed: Am I screwed out of the questline with his associate?

So... I ended up a long while back in the early game approached by Abrams, and I did his questline up until the prison break where I was fed up getting dunked on by the Protectorate prison guards at level 6-7. So, I decided instead to turn him to the authorities and get him killed. Later on, I realized that his quest to find him in Core City was the pre-requisite for Jack Quicksilver's quests... Which would have gotten me the Huxkey... I feel so stupid doing that, and I'm 10 levels in, now feeling comfortable enough to take on the protectorate, but I don't want to have to restart the game.
