Gold: day of departure flight change

How does this work? Is it free for confirmed changes? Does exact routing need to be the same? Or would I just need to standby at airport and hope for the best? CPU?

Eg say I have. 330pm flight. Can I login at 12:01 am same day and confirm for free on same routing if open seats? Thx!
