Sobering weather alert. Stock up today, then hunker down

The facts for Michigan's Upper Peninsula

\- NO WEATHER ISSUES TODAY (SATURDAY MARCH 14). Why is this important to you? Because you should go out and get the needed supplies, food, and any medication you need to get you from Sunday to Tuesday early afternoon. DO NOT raid the shelves at Mejier, Super One, IGA, Walmart, Elmers, or Lofaro’s fresh market. Get what you need for 3 days! Not 30 Days!

\- No sugar coating snow amounts. Most if not all of the U.P. will be measuring snow in feet (see snow map). There is a chance by Monday night, some Central U.P. locations could be around 4 feet for final storm totals.

\- Travel starting Sunday and continuing through Tuesday morning will be extremely difficult, and possibly dangerous. If you get stranded outside of a U.P. city, MSP, the County Sheriff, or help in general could take a long time to reach you due to the heavy snow and strong winds. Please do not rely on food delivery to bring you food Sunday and Monday if you live in the Marquette area or wherever there is food delivery service.

\- There is a chance some rural U.P. villages or towns could be "cut off" or "isolated" Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. This is due to road crews unable to keep up with 1-3 inch per hour snow rates and having to focus on emergency or primary routes in the county. Also, if you live in the woods, please also be prepared to be "cut off" or "isolated" during this time. Meaning if you have an emergency during this storm, help may not be able to reach you. Make sure you have all your supplies, food, and medication if you live in a rural U.P. village/town or if you live out in the woods for Sunday evening through Tuesday early afternoon.
