Recreating The Bieber

Background context: Top of the episode the gang lands in Hawaii (cut to Jameson impregnating Lauren’s mouth in coach, Jason assaulting Katie’s butt at baggage claim, everyone taking shots at the airport bar, and general VPR fuckerry \*hello to my fellow ofmd fans.)

All of this leads to Jason getting into it with Lauren and James at the first (second, third?) birthday dinner and then the great Tom, Arianna, Mr. and Mrs. Shay standoff rounds off the night. Great, everyone is nice twitchy for the next three days of hardcore bff birthday fun.

Now to what this post is really about. At the 17:10 mark we see Tom and Katie in their hotel room, in the morning, in the aftermath of night one. Tom has been busy. What has he been up to? Taking a naked, filtered picture of himself, specifically recreating a Justin Bieber Instagram pic. Taking note that at the 1 hour mark of him posting it he had 54 likes. One would assume the group saw it. For sure Doute, who I’m certain relayed it to everyone else. Katie doesn’t have a big reaction in the moment. It's a mix of surprise and ache. In her talking head she says in a much stronger tone “I own that ass bitches. I own that ass.” (My guess is that it made her feel vulnerable, jealous, annoyed, etc.)

And yet Lauren, in the same episode, is bullied by Katie for going bikini topless (no mention of Faith though, hmmm), while swimming. No one was calling out Schwartz for posting his ass on Insta - which you could say was way more public.

Idk it always bothers me when I think about this.
