How do hard-of-hearing students cope with large, in-person lectures?

I have Bluetooth hearing aids and my iPhone can function as a remote microphone. Has anyone tried that? Is it possible to get the instructor to use the speaker system in the lecture hall? I'm going to register with the disabilities office, and I'll send the instructor a note asking how they've dealt with it in the past. Ideas?
