UPDATE: r/subredditsmeet
**UPDATE:** Thread in /r/subredditsmeet is [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditsMeet/comments/3p2w1e/rvegan_meets_rpaleo_meets_rzerocarb_meets_rketo/)
**2nd UPDATE:** I've spoken to the /r/subredditsmeet mod, and they've agreed that we can participate in another meetup there, in the near future, with /r/philosophy and /r/environment (and possibly others if we can agree on some suggestions).
**3rd UPDATE:** A reminder to not downvote other commenters in that thread. The top 5 "controversial" comments are automatically added to the OP at the top, so they will be the first things people read when they go there. Downvoting comments that you disagree with will result in them being given a more prominent position in that thread, so please keep that in mind.
-------
We've decided to go ahead, despite some of the valid objections that some of you have raised. We've tried to address those issues by ensuring that it's made clear in the /r/subredditsmeet post that **veganism is not a diet**, and that it *is* an ethical stance against the exploitation of animals.
We will be using the discussion topic question that /u/lnfinity suggested [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/vegan/comments/3oxhd4/subredditsmeet_with_rvegan_rpaleo_rketo_rzerocarb/cw1d85s). There will be some nutrition/diet topics as well, and hopefully we can use that as an opportunity to dispel certain myths like "veganism means a high-carb diet" or "diets can't be nutritionally complete without animal products".
The post will be in /r/subredditsmeet, not here (in case that was not clear in the last post), and of course nobody here is required to participate, or to discuss topics that they don't wish to discuss. It will be posted there at midnight tonight, Central Daylight Time, and will remain stickied in /r/subredditsmeet for one week. If you choose to comment there, you are encouraged to mark yourself with a flair indicating that you are from r/vegan.
It is our hope that you will see this as an opportunity for raising awareness about animal rights issues, and correcting misconceptions that people may have about what veganism means and what we stand for. Remember that we have been invited to discuss these topics, and as such, no one can accuse us of "preaching".
