What's wrong wit my bush beans?

I picked up some orca/yin-yang beans at my library's seed library. They're dry bush beans. I planted them a couple weeks after the Greek Gigante beans seen growing on the trellis. What's going on with them and why are the trellised beans doing so much better?

ETA, the wood shavings were added a couple days ago. I live in an arid climate (W CO, 6b) and thought maybe the soil was drying out and threw on what I had on hand. The yellowing started before mulching.
