What is Verizon up to?

Has anyone here ever had Verizon pro-actively reach out to you to say they don't think you're getting the level of internet service you're paying for so they want to send out a tech at no cost to you to check your in-house wiring?

They have never once indicated to us that they care about our service, and the whole thing seems incredibly fishy. But we checked via our Verizon app and it seems like it is in fact Verizon contacting us.

Has anyone here ever had a similar experience? Am I being paranoid by thinking this is just crazy weird and suspicious? It's not like "pro-active," "free," and "customer service" are qualities usually associated with Verizon, so I can't shake the feeling that something is off.
