I pay Verizon to allow scammers to call and leave voicemail, and there's nothing I can do about it.
My number is online due to my work. By now it's on many telemarketer lists. I get anywhere from 5 to 10 spam calls a day.
It's outrageous that I pay for a "service" that allows this to happen in the first place. We've all been accustomed to it by now, but lets take a step back and look at the big picture. It's 2024. We should have mechanisms against having scammers contacting you and taking your time in an attempt to steal your money. **And I pay Verizon every month for this.**
And even more outrageous, when I get an incoming call, whether marked "potential spam" or not, and I don't recognize the number, I'm not picking up. So it goes to voicemail and the scammers leave a voicemail. Now I have to take time out of my day to clear the little annoying notification icon by calling voicemail, briefly being forced to listen to the message then delete it. Over and over and over every day. **And I pay Verizon every month for this.**
I have called Verizon support to see if there's any way I can either leave a voicemail message up, but not allow voicemail message to be left or turn off voicemail entirely.
They said it cannot be done.
I literally am forced to pay for a service that allows hundreds of people to violate my time and attempt to steal my money.
It's pathetic that Verizon cannot allow us to turn off voicemail, which is a more and more antiquated function by the day. No-one I know leaves voicemails.
I know everyone already knows the situation and haters telemarketers too. But I've just had it. I'm so fed up and just needed to rant.
