I hate myself for asking but......
As someone who takes their own hobbies (Mountain biking, photography and computers) very seriously, I know how much this post is going to pain and annoy some of you. But if you've ever tried shopping for someone who has wildly different interests than you or tried having a go at something you're not sure about then hopefully you'll find it in your heart to have pity on me.
My GF has decided she wants to "collect" and play vinyl, you can see where this is going. She was bought by a friend of hers (on whom I lay all the blame) a garbage, suitcase style turntable for all of probably £40 and it sounds exactly like you'd expect. The speakers on my phone have more range. The GF wants something that sounds better.
My GF is not someone who typically appreciates quality and usually buys what she thinks looks nice. When I tell her the LED light I bought for my bike cost £95 she says things like "But you can get one off amazon for £10", at which I sigh.
I'm fully aware that anything truly hobby grade starts at a bare minimum £1000 no matter what your hobby is, but this isn't a hobby, she doesn't want to be part of the community, she just wants to play records (without having her ears bleed).
The part you'll want to know: I'm willing to spend £250, new or used, must be complete (but not necessarily all in one) Turntable, amp, speaker. Something that I can set up for her in the living room, she can plop a vinyl on and play because if she has to do more than turn it on and place the needle she'll get mad at it (I once turned the speakers on the PC off rather than leave them in standby and she called me at work in a grump because there was no sound. Yes, turning on the PC AND the speakers was too complicated.)
So please, find it in your collective hearts to forgive this sin of a post and be gracious enough bestow upon me your links to retail sites, flea-bay and FB marketplace.
TLDR: My gf wants to listen to vinyl and I spent all my money on my Landrover, need suggestions under £300.
