Angine de Poitrine. 1st CA press, and 5th US press observation.
I know this is an older interest But figured people might find this interesting. I have both the original 1st Canadian press and the recent 5th US press. I would normally think the audio qualities would match since it’s a digital recording. BUT the 1st Canadian is on thicker maybe 180g vinyl and the 5th US press is on normal thickness vinyl. Also the deadwax is larger on the US copy 23.5mm while the 1st CA press is only 20mm. Both of those facts would make you believe the 1st CA press would be better. Not true. I prefer the 5th US press more. The CA version still sounds good. But the levels are too similar and dilutes the sound stage and makes it difficult to notice separations. While the 1st US seems a little bit louder only because there is better separations and the bass holds a more individual sound presence. Yes. It’s nice to have the 1st CA press. But save $50 and get the US version.
