Bow rehair question
I recently took my bow to a respected local luthier to be rehaired. (It’s my first time doing this since restarting violin about a year ago.) He gave me a price and told me 2-3 weeks, but gave me a loaner bow so the time wasn’t a big deal. Today I was speaking to the assistant at the shop about an unrelated issue and she mentioned offhand that the bow wasn’t back yet and talked about “sending it out”. This was a surprise to me as I assumed the luthier who took the bow would be the one doing the work. He did not tell me when I dropped it off that he would be sending it somewhere. Is this normal? I feel a little bothered/mislead. I don’t even know where my bow is or who is actually doing the rehair. I didn’t say anything today as maybe this is just common practice, but thought I should check here. Is this normal or shady?
