What's Your Vote for Best VR Game of 2025 [The Game Awards]?

Sharing my vote having played 4 out of the 5 (sorry for writing a novel here):

* **Alien: Rogue Incursion**

>Probably the most fun gunplay I've had from a Survios game since Raw Data (2016) and I consider this one their best work yet after Westworld: Awakening. The environment design is faithfully dangerous, the story is engaging, the combat/exploration is exciting and in depth, and the typical "Survios Janky-ness" is mostly bearable or not immersion-breaking.

>Having participated in its playtest months before the release I really appreciated how well the final package came together. It could easily be my pick for this award if not for the "Oh we forgot to tell you this is just Part One" nonsense. I cannot seriously treat it as the best VR game if it's only half the product.

* **Arken Age**

>Late to the party on this one, and I've been having a blast with it for the past few weeks. Got it on Steam and then Quest and the performance blows my mind on the standalone device, even without using the QGO up-res. The amount of VR-conscious interactions masterfully implemented in the game puts a lot of big titles to shame, and the combat is surprisingly challenging and varied despite the straightforward shooting/melee enemies, let alone the massive amount of customizations available for your weapons.

>I want to call it 2025's Stormlands (without multiplayer), and it rivals Asgard's Wrath 2's intensity in the "Getting Your Ass Whooped" category. The only weakness for me is the lack of story content, but the package is beyond impressive from a tiny dev team.

* **Ghost Town**

>I'm the type of player who considers narrative experience and level of immersion of utmost importance from a VR game, which is why my last year's pick was Metro Awakening for its excellent immersion and emotional story. Ghost Town fits that bill perfectly, its beautiful world building and intriguing story hooked me from the first minute to the last as if I was actually living inside an HBO or Netflix series. The puzzles are on the easier side compared to The Room, but the great acting and amazing set pieces more than enough make up for it.

>Graphical fidelity on Quest 3 alone is so well done that I often forgot I was not playing a PCVR title. Very glad about the game being ported to PC just 2 months after its initial release. It'd be a crime to leave it stranded on Quest 3.

* **Deadpool VR**

>The only one I haven't tried. I'm not one to throw conspiracy theories to Keighley, but WTF is this title doing here? Shouldn't the game be already released when you announce the nominees? Why would something be nominated when no one has "officially" played it?

>I am seeing a lot of praises and criticisms for the game today which tells me people are having tons of fun with it. I might give it a try come holidays but this nomination appears fishy to me. Meta's mighty dollars at work maybe?

* **The Midnight Walk**

>This one is a close second after Ghost Town as I was really enthralled by its amazing art direction and immersive story. Claymation in VR? Sign me up. You get to become a character in a Tim-Burton-like world, exploring the mystery and horror behind each corner with the top-notch voice performance guiding you through the whole journey. To channel my inner Gen Alpha, I would say it's definitely a vibe....

>However I'm really disappointed in the lack of VR specific gameplay throughout and its short runtime compared to other titles. Still think it stands on its own as a masterpiece of storytelling, unfortunately the non-VR gameplay has dragged it down along with some pacing issues, making the lonely somber journey even sadder sometimes.

A few honorable mentions from me that was snubbed(had to take out Behemoth since it was technically released in '24):

* Reach

>You can throw shields in this game. Nuff said.

* Of Lies & Rain

>Not just your regular Half-Life Alyx knock-off -- the best so far, with its own unique flavor

* Wall Town Wonders

>Smart use of MR, cute characters and cozy setting

* Laser Dance

>This is why MR exists!
