Is it legal to DS a player out in fives or sixes
Adult coed volleyball. Frequently I’ll have a player no show or have to leave bringing my carefully crafted 7 person rotation crashing down and forcing me (the remaining middle) to play back row and my lib to go front row. Here’s my lineup: OH M S1 OH RS L/DS. It is thoroughly unadvantageous for me to go on the back row. Not to receive not to pass not to cover. Better off playing 5 on the court than having me in the back. Gods honest truth. My lib is 4’4. She cannot set, she cannot block, her tips and pushes are about as easily read as mine (not tryna dog on her just explaining what we know). Having her go in the front row is asking her to be OTd and us to be kill farmed. Our setter is a highly competent 5-1 setter who can block and swing.
How do I set it up so I’m off the court when it’s my time to play back and she’s never having to go front. I don’t have a second middle so I can’t have her do true libbing, and from what I can gather on Google DSing isn’t legal in 6s with a 6 man roster. There is no penalty for playing 5s from the league and tourney organizers. Iron middle won’t usually work and doesn’t solve her being on the front.
I didn’t play club or school ball so sorry if I’m missing something obvious, I’m quite new to captaining teams and crafting strategy.
