Blend door actuator won’t seat

2000 golf

Has anyone had issues with the manual blend door actuator? My ac stopped working and found it was because the part was backed out on the bottom of the airbox. Every time I tried to put it in the bottom metal part of the blend door would move.

I said screw it I know I’ve lost foam from these and will need to tape them one day. Let me remove it and try to hold it in place. That worked but the actuator won’t clip in all the way and I don’t know why. The blend door also has side to side play which is why it kept moving when I tried to insert it before taking it apart

It’s a hard position to get into but I put as much force on it as possible. I’m about to just put some epoxy on that slit and glue it in place so it won’t fall out because I’m never taking this shit apart again lol and i live in AZ where you need ac
