Why buy 100+ contracts instead of 1 leap that you like?

I’m talking expensive leaps.

If you’re gonna gamble why not just get one expensive leap that you have great confidence in? I don’t understand buying 100+ contracts of something and just losing all your money when it goes sour. I get that it can hit big but why not just buy 1 leap and sell for a couple 100 or even 1000s if you nail it?

I keep seeing people with losses or gains and they all have over 100 contracts. Does this not eventually bite everyone in the ass? I would much rather put 30k on a 6 month leap and let that stock move until I make enough gains to sell. If it happens right away awesome, otherwise just wait out a dip.

I get not buying stock and trying to amp up profits with options, but going heavy in multiple buys seems reckless.
