Working with Norscans in the 2E Timeline (Post-SoC)
Hello everyone, I hope you are having a nice day. I have been thinking about getting back in the WFRP GMing, and the latest C7 sale has been looking pretty neat. From my start with 2E I generally prefer its timeline, as the aftermath of the Storm of Chaos provides the kind of upheaval, havoc and mix of hope and devastation that I think gives the setting extra spice even if I use 4E rules. I was eyeing the North of the Empire and thinking about maybe giving the group a reason to sail north of the Sea, or at least have a few words with the fellows living there.
Except the odd part about Norsca is that, well, there's Norscans in it, and after the Storm of Chaos, there may be some v*ery bad blood around*. Entire provinces were devastated, countless people were killed by the hordes of Chaos, and considering the Empire tends to have some rather militant people (and faiths), they would be out for blood to the point that any counter-raids killing Norscan villages would probably be seen as fair play. Yet 2E shows Norcans in the core book as a playable career, and 4E expanded on them further (admittedly with an earlier point of view) indicating that traders from the Empire and beyond sometimes visit their ports for trade. I don't want to sugarcoat this setting too much, so was it ever detailed why a norscan wouldn't be shot, drawn and quartered or repeatedly stabbed (or some combination thereof)?
Was there information on some tribes keeping out of it, splitting with some loyalists staying clear of the Everchosen, or waves of refugees deciding to throw in their lot with the southerners, or do I need to simply go with "well we have to be reasonable after this catastrophe, can't overextend and try to finish the job" ?
