Trouble fitting 3090 FE Active Backplate

So I'm currently designing my first custom loop, and I've decided to go all out. I already have a 3090FE and 5900X so yeah. But while designing the loop and modelling everything up in Solidworks I've run into a fitment issue that I wasn't expecting. The active backplate for the 3090 FE stands almost 17mm above the PCB however the gap between the PCB and my RAM is less than 10mm.

Does anyone else have a loop with the active backplate and does yours fit? Would it fit on a vertical GPU mount, the EK configurator won't let you select the active backplate if you use their vertical mount. I'm at a pass here because I've been wanting to watercool my PC for over a year and this is just a bummer at one of the final stages. Yes, I don't need the active backplate, but everyone knows how hot the VRAM gets on a 3090 and if I'm spending that much on a full custom loop I might as well do it properly.
