Why is there watch?v= in youtube link

With how most things get shortened these days you dont even see file extensions in url which is removed with htaccess so why is youtube using [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsdEeYbQmc)Code instead of [https://www.youtube.com/c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsdEeYbQmc)ode? Is there some security flaw with htaccess?
