Sola Woodcut florals - biggest cost saver at my wedding
There have been a lot of questions about florals and whether or not Sola flowers look good so here is my bouquet and my spouse's floral lapel, judge for yourself! Choosing to go with Sola was probably the #1 thing we did to reduce costs--florals are just so expensive and we had an outdoor wedding that felt like we needed a LOT. We dyed the flowers ourselves and painted the centers gold on some of them. It was a lot of work but we had parents and bridal party members helping. I don't think they looked super real but we also chose semi-fantastical colors so that wasn't a priority for me.
I think we spent less than $500 on five bouquets, ten boutonnieres, five corsages, center pieces for 18 tables, other various decor like a wreath and bunting along a staircase, and ceremony arch flowers. We didn't buy any kits, just mass purchased the packs of different varieties of undyed blooms. For the equivalent number of fresh blooms I imagine we would have spent $8k+.
Absolutely never pay full price on Sola. There are constant sales. I'd say don't buy unless it's a 70% off sale, they're frequent.
That was my experience! Happy to answer any other questions.
