I don't think my family will be able to make it and I regret planning this:(

My fiance and I decided to have a wedding instead of an elopement because we live far from both of our families. It'd probably the only time our families would ever meet, and we built this idea up in our heads of a nice event with both of our families and having this really great memory.

Because we live so far, I don't think anyone in my family is going to make it. Today when I spoke to my uncle on the phone it really hit that we might be spending a bunch of time and money planning an event my family won't be able to go to.

My dad is dead. My one cousin I think I'm close with has a toddler and a husband with a demanding job. My other cousin I am not at all close to and also has a demanding job. My grandpa is 90 and he is getting sicker, so my aunt and uncle are taking care of him.

I know for certain my mom and brother will come, but they do not care about the event itself (which is a nice thought! I am grateful they would come just for me, even if it weren't a nice event.) I wouldn't have spent thousands of dollars on this if it was just going to be an intimate ceremony with only my mom and brother present. That would have been nice too, but it's too late and that's just not what's happening. We could have saved so much money and stress.

I also don't really know anyone here. I moved here for my fiance and I've been making acquaintances but nobody considers me a friend-friend yet. My friends from my home state say they're coming, but now I'm just hyper aware that anything could happen.

My fiance's family is pretty small. Five people total. Like with my family, everyone else is dead.

I'm so worried we spent money and time and got hopes up for a nice event that's going to be too big with too much food for only 10 people. I'm having flashbacks to my 16th birthday party when 15 people RSVPd and two people showed up.

I'm just so sad. I think I got too carried away. I'm not a big event person, but everyone (in my family!!!) was hyping me up and telling me that this is the one big event I get and it would be so nice to have a memory with all of our loved ones together.

I looked on Reddit for other posts about this topic and kept finding answers like, "be grateful for who you have there! All of your tons of friends and both of your parents!" and that stung more :')
