Should I be stressing over no liquor?
We've selected a local brewery as our venue. We love the place, and we love the beer. The only downside to this is that they will not let us serve liquor. They do have wines and ciders from a local place that they will serve. We chose the venue knowing this. We've been getting some frowns and, "Oh, no liquor?" from our guests when we told them this. Our planner suggested asking them if we can bring in outside bartenders and our own liquor.
So the planner spoke with them today, offering to bring in our own bartenders, get a day license, blah blah. They won't budge. We came in knowing this, and I figured they wouldn't budge because hey that's money they would lose in beer sales. They're citing more the ramifications of serving liquor (drunk drivers, property damage, etc.). They did say not completely obvious flasks would be okay.
Anywho, is this weird to have a beer/wine/cider reception only? I'm not concerned with what people think, and if they don't like it they don't have to come (hey that's less money out of my pocket). Also, is this worthy of mentioning on our STDs? I know I want to mention it on the invitations and our site, but should I throw it out there a third time?
