WJ World Elite MC checked bags question

Hey folks,

I purchased a flight for my extended family and I to go away but just saw that a show I want to see is going to be in town two days before we get there.

If I book another one way flight, will my party members then be charged for their bags if I'm not physically at the airport? Hypothetically I'd still check in to get my checked bag down to join me when the family joins.

I just don't want to risk leaving early and then having my full party have to pay for their bags all of a sudden.
