Children’s book about a dog that goes to finishing school and gets partied out

I’ve thought about this book and talked about it with my sister for so long I’m not sure what I’ve fabricated now. Just a note that the details are fuzzy.

It’s about this dog that gets sent to finishing school. I think this fancy French dog comes along and offers to teach the dog. It’s just a plain dog and the owner wants a dog that’s not such a slob (maybe?). So it starts training/etiquette school and starts cleaning up wearing clothes. It keeps going and soon it’s dressing all fancy and also starts walking on two feet and talking. The dog ends up getting bored of it’s owner and leaves the house. It goes off and parties in these mansions. When all the partying is done, the dog looks around and finds nobody there. The French etiquette dog and friends have gone off to do other things. I think it shows the dog all dressed and partied out and hungover? The dog gradually goes back to just being a dog, shedding its clothes and stops speaking.

Eventually the dog is alone and cold outside a house? And the owner opens the door and lets the dog in. And he’s home. Shows him through the window I think just laying there happy to just be a dog again.

It seems like maybe the dogs take over his house during the thing. And eventually the owner kicks the dogs out?
